Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London

The Earls Court exhibition centre is a preeminent exhibition centre, event and conference venue set in London's Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. In the heart of London, Earls Court hosts a series of events, shows, exhibitions, concerts, trade fairs and conferences all around the year.

Initially, Earls Court London was land that was unused for hundreds of years. It was the idea of the industrialist John Robinson Whitley to use the area for entertainment. John used the land as a show ground for some period but his efforts did not generate much profit. At the end of the 19th century, the ground was home to a massive observation wheel and Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show.

In 1935 the land was acquired by new owners who decided to create a world-class show centre on it. The initial plan was to build Europe's biggest structure by volume but the project did not go according to the plan and ran over budget which delayed its completion. On 1st September 1937, Earls Court exhibition centre in London was open to public first with Chocolate and Confectionery exhibition. The project faced many problems in the latter half of construction, however was completed successfully and coasted around £1.5 million. The building is now known as Earls Court One.

To fulfil the need of additional exhibition space, Earls Court Two was later brought into service at a cost of around £100m. Open on 17th October 1991, a striking new barrel-roofed hall is linked with Earls Court One with folding shutters and has a 17,000 square metre, column-free floor.
