Follow a magical path beneath the stars at Kew Gardens this winter.
Now in its seventh year, Christmas at Kew offers an enchanting opportunity to see these stunning gardens at twilight, glitteringly illuminated by dazzling light installations.
This sparkling after-dark trail is 2.6km long, and takes around 75 minutes to walk. See Kew Garden’s iconic fixtures like never before: watch dynamic laser projections illuminating Temperate House; stand amidst a cascade of silvery shards on the Treetop Walkway; walk amongst delicately-lit vines, changing their colours at every turn; and stand beneath the breathtaking branches of glowing fairy-fire, Will-o’the-Wisp.
Favourites from previous years make a welcome return: listen to the Holly Bushes singing; bask in the glow of thousands of pea-lights in the Tunnel of Light; bathe in the warmth of the blazing Fire Garden; and walk under enormous arches of light spreading between the tree canopies, bedecked in Christmas colours. Finally, enjoy the spectacular Palm House Pond finale, watching jumping jets of light bounce across the pond to a toe-tapping soundtrack of Christmas classics.
After your magical walk, why not warm up with a hot chocolate, mulled wine or spiced cider around the fire-pit, whilst toasting marshmallows? Smaller visitors will also enjoy a trip to the fairground for a ride on a Victorian carousel or the Helter Skelter – and keep an eye out for Santa and his elves, too.
Christmas at Kew runs from 20th November to 5th January, 5pm to 10pm, and advance bookings are essential. Kew Gardens is easily accessible from us at the Mercure Kensington, so grab your tickets now, and enjoy this perfect festive family activity.
